In the next step of my journey, I found something powerful: the strength that comes from spending time with the Lord in prayer, worship, and the Word. If you’re seeking to grow deeper in your relationship with God or find peace and strength, I encourage you to invest in these moments with Him. They truly can transform how we handle life’s challenges and disappointments.
When I first began intentionally building my trust in God, I would pull out scriptures that reminded me of His faithfulness, His promises, and His love. I held on to those verses and let them become a foundation, something to return to when I felt shaken. Each verse was like a brick, building a steady wall of faith. Alongside scripture, I also began seeking out worship songs that would lift my spirit and encourage me on this journey. Those songs became a source of strength, almost like a soundtrack for the season I was walking through.
Over time, worship became more than just an encouragement—it became a lifeline. Especially when I felt disappointment or discouragement, I learned to turn to worship. Rather than bottling up those emotions or trying to handle things on my own, I would come before God, surrendering everything to Him in worship. There’s something about worship that reminds us of who God is and realigns our hearts with His truth. Worship draws us closer to Him and shifts our focus away from our own struggles to the greatness of our Heavenly Father.
Now, this isn’t just a practice I reach for in hard times; it’s something I make a priority every day. Spending time in God’s presence has become essential for me. Sometimes, I don’t even need lyrics—just an instrumental melody can bring a deep sense of peace, and in those quiet moments, songs have even been birthed in my heart. These spontaneous songs are like prayers and reflections, drawn from those moments with God.
So, if you’re reading this and you’re looking for a way to grow closer to the Lord or find strength in difficult times, I invite you to make prayer, worship, and the Word part of your daily life. Take time to sit with Him, even in silence. Let worship be more than just a song you sing on Sundays—let it be a conversation, a place of refuge, and a source of strength.
There is nothing like being in God’s presence, and He’s always ready to meet you there. Whether you start with a favorite worship song, a passage of scripture, or a simple prayer, these moments have the power to renew, comfort, and guide you. My hope is that as you spend time with the Lord, you’ll find, as I have, that He is truly a refuge—a safe place where you can rest, heal, and find unshakeable peace.
As I spent more time with the Lord in worship, prayer, and the Word, I found myself drawn to journaling—capturing my moments in His presence. Writing down my prayers, songs, reflections, and revelations became a powerful way to process my journey and recognize just how much God was transforming my heart. I even began recording audios of prayers and songs that were birthed during these times with Him. Over time, my speech shifted too. The words I spoke aligned more with God’s promises than with the doubts and fears I once clung to.
That’s the amazing thing about time with Abba—He transforms us from the inside out. We no longer look, act, or speak like the world, because, in His presence, narratives begin to shift, walls we’ve built around our hearts start to come down, and our minds begin the renewal process. Romans 12:2 says, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”
But that’s a topic I’ll dive deeper into in next week’s post. Until then, I encourage you to make space for God’s presence, trusting that He’s not only walking with you but actively reshaping and renewing your heart and mind.
